Bringing Home the BACN

Trust Google to find ways of dealing with - and therefore "owning" - yet another new electronic media term: bacn. Wikipedia's already defined it, but it's in a Google blog that we learned this week how to deal with the myriad email messages people receive, messages they eventually want to read - just not now.

How can we as marketers make sure that our emessaging doesn't get treated like bacn - sequestered off in a folder "to do later" and possibly ignored altogether? One good way is to include dated incentives: sales that are only good this week, or offers that expire in the very near future. Putting them off until later may cause your customers to do the same.
