Sweet Tooth, Anyone?Chocolate vendors, rejoice! Easter is early this year, and a study by the National Retail Federation is saying that there will be an 11% gain over last year's Easter spending ... to the tune of $135.07 per person. The National Confectioners Association (NCA) predicts that candy sales this year will be around $1.9 billion. That's a lot of candy. Interestingly, the study found that although only 79.5% of those polled said that they planned to celebrate Easter as a holiday, 89.6% of them will be spending money on it - leaving ten percent not celebrating, but spending, and it would be interesting to do further study on that group, for whom advertising is obviously working well. In the meantime, the fourth largest retail holiday (according to the National Retail Federation) seems to be shaping up well for its early advent this year. And ask the NCA about the favorite of all the confections about to be sold? The chocolate rabbit, of course! Better go get some now...
And that's our take on the news today!
