Transition ... but quickly!

MediaPost's Email Insider reported this week on its Retail Email Subscription Benchmark Study, noting that almost a third of the major online retailers in the study didn't deliver their first email within two weeks of the subscription date. Almost a fifth of them took more than a month to deliver that first email — or failed to deliver it at all.

The problems associated with this delay are clear: people could forget that they subscribed, have lost interest, or (perhaps most importantly) make judgments about the company's general reliability based on the reliability — or lack thereof — of its email policies.
