Holiday Selling Foci

Well, by the time you read this, you should be about halfway through your holiday emarketing plan ... so this is a good time to pause and take stock. How is it going? Are there tweaks you can make that will help? Remember that this is not a time to completely reorganize or restructure your plan, but rather to make adjustments as seem helpful.

In addition, we have three foci for your mid-buying-season mailings:

  • Focus on targeting. Who are your best buyers? How can you best reach them right now? Is there a special you can run, something "exclusive" for these special people to make them feel extra-special during this harried and rushed time?

  • Focus on gender. A great deal of gift-buying entails figuring out what other-gender persons might wish to receive. How about a special email for women with ideas about gifts for men? And then a special email for men focusing on gifts for women?

  • Focus on timing. Think about when people are most likely to shop online, and be there for them when they're looking to buy. How about a series of lunchtime specials, perhaps making some special pricing available only from noon to one o'clock on weekdays?
