LongTail Phrases and PPC

This month we want to spend a little time talking about paid search, or PPC (pay-per-click).

In search, as with everything involving the Internet, you have to be agile, flexible, ready to make modifications to your campaign. But you also need to be able to make modifications to your approach.

For years, keywords meant precisely that: keywords. But Internet usage has changed, and people are no longer just typing one word into the search fields in Google or Yahoo! or MSN: they're typing key phrases, what are known as "longtail" searches or queries.

Where once a person might have searched on "baseball," now she is more likely to enter "Red Sox opening day events." Where once a prospect might have entered "clocks," in the search field, he's learned how to refine it to "antique collectible clocks."

Learn to use phrases when you're putting together your PPC campaign, and you'll get more bang for your buck!
